Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu attended the exclusive panel discussion “Asia's changing security order: the view from Taiwan” hosted by La Trobe University on 30 October and shared Taiwan’s perspectives on key regional security issues. Taiwan’s security is of crucial importance to both Asia and global security.
As a responsible stakeholder, Taiwan is fully committed to maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and strengthening our self-defence capabilities. Taiwan is looking forward to continuing to work with Australia and other like-minded partners jointly upholding a free, open, inclusive, and resilient Indo-Pacific region.
Representative Douglas Hsu and former Australian Representative to Taiwan Kevin Magee also attended the Q&A session afterwards. There is a lot of room for Taiwan and Australia to work together ranging from trade, critical minerals, renewable energy to science and technology. Taiwan is a genuine and good friend to Australia.
