The Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai held a symposium for Indian alumni studying in Taiwan on the evening of December 8th. It was chaired by Director General Richard Chen. He made a remark to welcome all participants and introduced the significance and various aspects of promotion of alumni associations studying in Taiwan.
DG Chen pointed out that Taiwan promotes the "New Southbound Policy" and in addition to substantive economic and trade activities, it also attaches great importance to deepening "people-centered cooperation". Strengthening exchanges with Indian alumni studying in Taiwan is one of the important tasks of the Office First, we hope to work together with alumni studying in Taiwan to promote mutual benefit and common prosperity between Taiwan and India.
DG Chen also encouraged Indian youth to actively learn Chinese to create more advantages and opportunities for themselves. Currently, about 3,000 Indian students are studying different courses in Taiwan, which will help them gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s high-tech development, culture and working environment, and thus obtain good job opportunities. At the same time, as long as foreigners obtain legal residence and work in Taiwan, our government will treat them as citizens, such as providing minimum wages and health care.
Alumni who participated shared their experiences in Taiwan, and they were all deeply impressed by Taiwan's various social developments. The atmosphere of this event was warm and successful, and participants all looked forward to having more exchange opportunities in the future, or to studying in Taiwan again.
