Commissioned by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), in collaboration with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the event built upon the TAIWAN EXPO 2023 in Malaysia to promote Taiwan-Japan supply chain cooperation and jointly expand into the ASEAN market. The forum was held on August 24th this year, with participation from 116 Taiwanese and Japanese business associations, company representatives, as well as Taiwanese businesses and Japanese businesses in Malaysia, invited to share their experiences and attract over a hundred attendees for enthusiastic discussions.
James Chang, Director of Economic Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, and Masashi HOSOMI, Economic Counsellor of Embassy of Japan in Malaysia emphasized the strong and longstanding technical and trade cooperation between Taiwan and Japan. They also highlighted Malaysia's robust business environment which has made it one of the most favourable target markets for joint operations.
Despite facing challenges stemming from the pandemic and political uncertainties, Malaysia has gradually stabilized, exhibiting high receptivity to new products, positive developments in agriculture, technology, manufacturing, and services sectors. Most Taiwan-Japan enterprises hold optimistic expectations for potential business opportunities in this market.
