Ambassador Douglas Hsu, was interviewed by SAA, with the report published on 6 June.
Ambassador Douglas Hsu recently appeared on the podcast of Strategic Analysis Australia (SAA), hosted by Director Michael Shoebridge—becoming the first foreign envoy invited to the program since its inception. During the in-depth conversation, Ambassador Hsu addressed Taiwan’s efforts to participate in the World Health Assembly (WHA), China’s misinterpretation of UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, Taiwan’s defense strategy in response to growing military threats, and key messages from President Lai Ching-te’s first inaugural anniversary speech.
Ambassador Hsu reaffirmed Taiwan’s strong commitment to joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), stressing that Taiwan fully meets the high standards of the agreement, in line with the “Auckland Principles,” and has a proven track record of fulfilling trade commitments. Despite political pressures faced by some member states, he emphasized that Taiwan remains a reliable and trusted partner in the region. “Growth and prosperity over geopolitics: the CPTPP is stronger with Taiwan,” he concluded.
