On 13 February, Director-General Edward Tao attended the memorial service of Venerable Master Hsing Yun at Chung Tian Temple in Logan.
Venerable Master Hsing Yun was the founder of Taiwan-based Fo Guang Shan Temple, he passed away at the age of 97. During his time, the Venerable Master established more than 300 temples and five universities around the world. He also founded the Buddha's Light International Association which has branches in 170 countries.
Master Hsing Yun's propagation of Humanistic Buddhism and dedication to education and charity have left an indelible impact not only in Taiwan but also globally.
