Director-General David Cheng-Wei Wu Welcomed Ambassador Liu Kuo-Hsin, the Inaugural Director-General of the TECO, Sydney

Director-General David Cheng-Wei Wu was honoured to welcome Ambassador Liu Kuo-Hsin, the inaugural Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Sydney, to our office. We were delighted to capture a special photo with two of our esteemed DGs together.

Amb. Liu shared many fascinating stories from his time in office. When he assumed this post in 1987, he was the sole staff member, handling all consular, political, and overseas community affairs. He also witnessed a surge in Taiwanese immigration to Australia during his tenure.

Even after retiring from his diplomatic career, Amb. Liu remains engaged in public affairs and is active in academia, sharing his deep knowledge and experience with the next generation. He served as an adjunct associate professor at National Taiwan University’s Department of Political Science and is currently an adjunct professor at Shih Hsin University.
