From July 1st to 7th, 30 students from Zhonghe High School in New Taipei City, including teacher Gu Jingchun, started their first week-long visit to Michel-Rodange High School in Luxembourg, laying the foundation for future exchanges between the two schools.
On July 2, Jean-Claude Hemmer, the president of Michel-Rodange High School, along with the school's teacher Yves Berna and more than a hundred faculty and students, held a special welcome ceremony for the Zhonghe High School delegation in the school’s auditorium. Ambassador Roy Lee, Luxembourg’s Taipei Office Director Lex Kaufhold, and members of the Association Luxembourg-Taiwan R.O.C. were also invited to attend the ceremony. Moreover, Principal Liu Shufen of Zhonghe High School led the school's faculty in participating in the entire event online. The guests witnessed the signing of a memorandum of exchange and cooperation between representatives of the two schools, and expressed their hopes that the two sides set a good example of exchanges among young students from Taiwan and Luxembourg.
Both president/principale encouraged students to make friends and hoped that students would break language and cultural barriers, develop and cherish friendships, and expand their horizons.
Ambassador Lee encouraged students to take this opportunity to share their similarities and difference across the fields of language, education, and culture to cultivate friendship.
Michel-Rodange High School specially organized student presentations, featuring xylophone, piano, and choral performances, to welcome the teachers and students of Zhonghe High School.
We sincerely hope that the teachers and students of Michel-Rodange High School will pay a return visit next year so that Zhonghe High School and the people of Taiwan can enjoy the pleasure of demonstrating the internationally renowned heartfelt Taiwanese hospitality!
