The Taiwanese community in Luxembourg jointly held a banquet on February 22 to celebrate the 2026 Lunar New Year (the 115th year of the Republic of China). The Lunar New Year is a time for reunion. Ambassador and Mrs. Shieh, joined by colleagues from the Representative Office, traveled to Luxembourg to celebrate with President Kuo Mei-chun of the Taiwan-Luxembourg Association, community leaders, and Taiwanese businesspeople.
Seeing over 70 compatriots gathered brought the warmth of home to the heart of a Luxembourg winter.
In his remarks, Ambassador Shieh highlighted that Taiwan and Luxembourg are both "small yet beautiful" nations that share the precious values of freedom and democracy:
Like-minded Old Friends: Last year’s visit by the Luxembourg Parliamentary delegation to Taiwan facilitated deep dialogues on human rights, proving that our bond transcends trade and is rooted in deep, shared convictions.
Seeds of Friendship: Through the Working Holiday Program, the younger generations of both nations are exchanging dreams and creativity, injecting fresh vitality into our bilateral relationship.
The Power of Grassroots Ambassadors: Ambassador Shieh encouraged every compatriot to see themselves as Taiwan’s most vital unofficial diplomats. By sharing Taiwan’s technological prowess and rich culture, they help the beauty of our homeland take root in Europe.
