The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Taiwan Fellowship is open for application from 1 May to 30 June (UTC+8) this year. Recipients will be able to conduct their research in Taiwan for a duration of between three months and one year.
The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship was established in 2010 to award foreign experts and scholars interested in research related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region, and Sinology the opportunity to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
1. Eligibility
Recipients shall be foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.
2. Financial assistance
(1) Monthly stipends:
a. Professors, associate professors, research
fellows, or associate research fellows:
NT$60,000.
b. Assistant professors, assistant research
fellows, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, and doctoral program students:
NT$50,000.
(2) One round-trip, economy-class ticket for the
most direct route to Taiwan (please refer to the Guidelines to the Taiwan Fellowship for the maximum subsidy).
(3) Accident insurance (plus medical insurance
for accidental injuries) coverage NT$1 million.
