Will I be able to return home every year?
In between semesters when there are no classes, you can return home to Belize. However, it will be at your own expense. Please make sure you have a valid ARC and re-entry permit before you depart from Taiwan. The school can advise you on this issue.
Would I be able to work to earn more cash?
Scholarship recipients are eligible to apply for a work permit with approval from school. With the exception of winter and summer breaks, the sum of working hours during the semester shall not exceed 20 hours per week. Please find more information on Ministry of Labor's website:

Do schools accept online application, or is it by post only?
Each school has different application requirements. Some accept online applications, others by post. If you are not sure, please contact the school directly.
Can I apply for more than one scholarship at a time?
No. Applicants can only apply for 1 scholarship at a time due to limited vacancy.

What will be the housing arrangement?
For ICDF Scholarship, all students must reside in the campus dormitories. The school will make the arrangement for you.
What kind of financial support will I receive?
The ICDF Scholarship Program provides every scholarship recipient a round trip economy class ticket, accommodations, tuition fees, credit fees, insurance, textbook cost, and a monthly allowance which varies for different study programs ranging from US$400 to US$550 monthly. Can I change my major?
No, you cannot change major. In addition, under the ICDF Scholarship program should you drop out of your program without gaining prior consent of the Taiwan ICDF, you are liable to repay the airfare and living allowances.
MOFA Taiwan Scholarship

What will be the housing arrangement?
For MOFA Taiwan Scholarship, students have to arrange their own housing, and can live off campus in apartments with or without roommates.
What kind of financial support will I receive?
The MOFA Taiwan Scholarship Program provides every scholarship recipient a round trip economy class airfare, and a monthly stipend of NT$30,000 (approximately US$950) for those who are pursuing degrees, and a monthly stipend of NT$25,000 (approximately US$800) for those who are learning the Mandarin courses, to cover the costs of tuition, board and lodging, books and medical insurance.
Is the LEP (Mandarin Language Enrichment Program) mandatory?
No, but it is strongly recommended because your program may be taught either fully in mandarin or mixed with English and Mandarin.

Can I go to Taiwan and study in a language center first without applying for the degree program I will pursue the next year? Am I still eligible for the Scholarship?
Yes. While you are studying in the language center, you can launch your application process for the desired degree program during the spring (or 2nd) semester for the next school year. But you must put on the scholarship application form for the degree program you would like to pursue.

What happens if I fail the language exam?
Failure to achieve an average score of 80% or above for two consecutive terms/quarters in the LEP may result in MOFA permanently disqualifying recipients from the Scholarship.
Can I change my major after spending one year or two for my degree program?
Recipients on degree programs are allowed to transfer to another department or educational institution only once. *The maximum duration of the scholarship granted cannot exceed five years (including one year in language center) and changing of a degree program may result in the program exceeding the time of the scholarship, at which case the student will be responsible for all additional expenses such as tuition, etc.
