On August 15, Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu was delighted to attend the Closing Ceremony for the “Culture of Peace Program; Women's Economic Empowerment in the Adjacency Zone of Belize” at Ta’Amay Centre for Training and Promotion of Peace in Benque Viejo del Carmen, Cayo District on August 15th, 2023. Also present at the ceremony were H.E. Amalia Mai, CEO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, Mr. Sergio López, Officer in Charge of OAS at the Adjacency Zone, Mr. Jahamor López, Principal Education Officer and Centre Manager, Cayo District Education Centre, as well as Mr. Robert Pan, Chief of Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize.
The training project was funded by TaiwanICDF under the Belize-Taiwan Women’s Empowerment Project cooperative framework, and was collaborated between the governments of Belize and Taiwan, and the Organization of American States (OAS) office at the Adjacency Zone. Over 100 women were benefited from the vocational trainings such as beauty, baking, cooking, as well as hospitality business.
The Embassy is honored to work with the Government of Belize and OAS on this meaningful initiative which empowers Belizean women and promotes peaceful development at the Adjacency Zone.
