The Taiwan Fellowship is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) IN 2010 to support foreign experts and scholars interested in research at Taiwan’s universities or academic institutions that is related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, the Asia-Pacific region, Chinese studies, Taiwan’s participation in regional economic integration, defense against disinformation, gender equality study or the "New Southbound Policy" promoted by Taiwan's government to strengthen Taiwan’s relations with Australia, New Zealand and ASEAN as well as South Asian countries. The application process will begin on May 1, 2019, and recipients may start their research in Taiwan from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
Eligibility:
Recipients shall be foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or are research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.
Financial assistance:
(1) Monthly stipends for the duration of research, from 3 months up to 1 year.
a. Professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows: NT$60,000
b. Assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates: NT$50,000.
(2) One round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan (with maximum subsidy limits).
(3) The minimum duration of a fellowship is 3 months, and the maximum is 12 months.
(4) Accident insurance (plus a medical insurance for accidental injuries) coverage of NT$1 million.
Application:
Canadian applicants from the Great Ottawa Region, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador are requested to submit online applications on the Taiwan Fellowship’s website (http://taiwanfellowship.ncl.edu.tw/eng/apply_out.aspx) and then send the following documents by post to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada before June 30, 2019 for preliminary review:

(2) Resume (including a list of publications)
(3) Research proposal (3 pages in principle using a standard research format)
(4) Two letters of recommendation, or one letter of recommendation and one letter of consent from the chief administrator of their institute
