The consular district of this office includes Greater Ottawa Region, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Overseas collectivity of France, Saint-Pierre et Miquelon. We process applications for passports, visas and document authentication within the above-stated areas. Payment is only accepted by Cash (Please prepare the full amount of fees, no change will be given for mailing and in person application.), Money Order, Bank Draft or Certified cheque (payable to “Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada” or " Taipei Eco. & Cul. Office in Canada"). Personal cheque is not accepted.

NOTE: When you purchase a Bank draft or Bank Cheque, please make sure the cheque contains the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) code

【Required Documents】

REQUIREMENTS	DESCRIPTION
1. Application form	Go to website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw . Fill out the application form online and print it out. Make sure the application form shows a bar code on it. Sign the application form.
2. Two color passport-size photos	Paste on the application form two color passport-size photos with a white background taken within 6 months. Please refer to this page for guidelines for passport-size photo.
3. Passport and one photocopy of the passport	The passport must be valid for at least 6 months and there are blank pages left in it. One photocopy of the passport bio-page including the holder’s picture is required.
4. Health certificate	Please use the form to complete the health examination as the required health certificate. The health certificate should be issued within 3 months. Health certificates issued by Canadian hospitals must be authenticated by our office (you may submit it along with your application for visa; please refer to documents authentication). Applicants of the following categories are not required to present the health certificate: - minors under age 6 - both the visa applicant and the family member(s) currently investing or employed as white collar worker(s) in Taiwan, whom the applicant intends to join with, are from countries whose citizens are eligible for visa-waiver entry into Taiwan
5. Original and one photocopy of Certificate of Residence in Taiwan, Alien Permanent Residence Certificate, Alien Residence Certificate, or various kinds of residence permits issued by the National Immigration Agency	One copy of the Household Registration Certificate issued within 3 months is required if the individual, whom the applicant intends to join, is a Taiwanese citizen with household registration. Original and one photocopy of Certificate of Residence in Taiwan, Alien Permanent Residence Certificate (APRC), Alien Residence Certificate (ARC), or other kinds of residence permits issued by the National Immigration Agency are required if the individual, whom the applicant intends to join with, is a Taiwanese citizen without household registration, a foreigner having obtained APRC or ARC, a Hong Kong or Macau resident, or a Chinese citizen. The documents must be valid for more than 6 months.
6. Original and one photocopy of proof of parents’ marriage	For applicants who are under age 18 and are the children or grandchildren of a Taiwanese citizen with household registration, and the applicant’s parents must currently have household registration in Taiwan, one original Household Registration Certificate issued within 3 months that shows registration of the parents’ marriage is required. For applicants who are under age 18 and are the children of a Taiwanese citizen without household registration, a foreigner having obtained APRC or ARC or other kinds of residence permits, a Hong Kong or Macau resident, or a Chinese citizen, proof of parent’s marriage is required.
7. Original and one photocopy of birth certificate	The birth certificate has to be long form (Ontario and Quebec) and authenticated by TECO. For information about documents authentication, please refer to this page.
8. Other supporting documents	Applicants with dual citizenship and household registration in Taiwan must annul the household registration and enter Taiwan with a foreign passport. Applicants whose parents have divorced may only join the parent that has custody of the applicants. Proof of custody is required. Applicants born outside of Taiwan and whose parents are Taiwan citizens having household registration must present the original and one photocopy of both parents Taiwanese passports. Applicants who apply to join paternal or maternal grandparents who Taiwanese citizens having household registration must present a letter of authorization signed by the applicant’s father, mother or legal guardian. Applicants who apply for a Resident Visa after having arrived in Taiwan are required to present also one photocopy of the Visitor Visa and the immigration entry stamp.
9. Return Envelope	Within Canada －Prepaid return Xpresspost purchased from Canada Post －Greater Ottawa Region, Quebec: Please provide Regional return envelope; Newfoundland and Labrador: Please provide National return envelope. The detailed information please refer to this page. We are not responsible for delayed, lost, or stolen mail. If you want to apply by mail, a pre-paid self-addressed return Xpresspost/Courier envelope must be included.
10. Fees	Please refer to the page for detailed information regarding the application fees. Legalization/visa application fees are non-refundable once accepted, regardless of approval, rejection, or withdrawal of the application.

【Notice】

Visa issuance is an act of sovereignty. According to the “Statute Governing Issuance of R.O.C. (Taiwan). Visas in Foreign Passport” and “Enforcement Rules for the Issuance of R.O.C. (Taiwan) Visas to Foreign-Passport Holders,” we reserves the right not to issue a visa and is under no obligation to disclose the reason. Application fee for no-issuance cases is non-refundable.
Those who enter Taiwan on a Resident Visa or get a Resident Visa after having arrived in Taiwan must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) and Re-entry Permit at local service centers of National Immigration Agency. The former must apply within 15 days from the next day of arrival, and the latter must apply within 15 days from the Resident Visa issuance date. Duration of stay is noted on the Alien Resident Certificate (ARC).
