- People who are eligible for visa-exempt entry or landing visas are granted up to a non-extendable 90days duration of stay in Taiwan. For Canadian passport holders who entered Taiwan visa-free and wish to extend their stay in Taiwan, please visit the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs to obtain more information.

- TECO reserves the right to withhold disclosure of the reasons for disapproval of your visa application, and to withhold the fees deemed non-refundable.
- An R.O.C. citizen ever registered with household in Taiwan shall be subject to laws of the Republic of China while in its jurisdiction, which include conscription for military service.
【General Requirements】
※ You MUST present the following when you apply for a visitor visa regardless of age. Interview may be required when necessary.

1. Passport | The passport will remain valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival of Taiwan and with blank pages.For applicants with Canadian landed immigrant or employment authorization status, please also submit the original official record for our reference. |
2. Duly completed application form for each applicant. Your telephone, fax number, or email should be stated clearly. (Online Application Form: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw) | Applicants who are under 20 must have the form signed by a parent or legal guardian.Note1: If the application is lodged through a travel agent, the agent must sign in the space provided at the bottom of visa application form.Note 2: If your application is not signed and dated (on the second page), it will be returned to you. |
3. Two Photos | The photos must be identical and taken within the last 6 months. Alternation of digital images is not permitted. The photos must show full face (including ears) and front view color with white background. The photos must be identical, neither wearing a hat nor headgear except for religious reasons.If the subject wears glasses, the photograph must show the eyes clearly with no reflection or glare in the glasses. Tinted lenses are not allowed, with the exception of the visually disabled.Avoid heavy frames and make sure that the frames do not cover any part of eyes.
The frame size must be 45mm x 35mm(1.77 inches long x 1.38 inches wide)and show a close-up of the head and top of the shoulders.
The chin to crown(the position of the top of the head or skull where could be seen) must be between 32mm and 36mm(1.25 inches and 1.44 inches) |
4. Your bank account balanced statement issued in the last 3 months with your name shown. | For a minor applicant, at least one of the parents’ balance statements should be provided.The fund balance should be sufficient for your stay in Taiwan for the period stated in your application form and travel itinerary. |
5. A photocopy of your airline ticket or tentative travel itinerary. Both the date of arrival in Taiwan and the date of departure from Taiwan should be clearly specified in the itinerary or ticket. | Please be advised that a visa holder, even with all possible extensions obtained from local police headquarters, is only granted a maximum of 180 days of duration of stay in total on each of his/her visits to Taiwan.DON’T make irrevocable travel plans prior to obtaining your visa.Please DON’T apply if you are NOT going to enter Taiwan in 3 months. |

7. Visa Fee please refer to the Application fees | The processing fee will not be refunded.Payment is ONLY accepted in Cash, Money Order, Bank Draft or Certified Cheque, which must be made payable to " Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada". Personal cheque is NOT accepted. If the payment is incorrect, TECO will return your application. Please make sure you are eligible to apply before you pay the fees and gather all the required documents before you submit the application. |
If you prefer that we return your passport by mail (especially for applications by mail), a self-addressed Canada Post Xpresspost return envelope should be enclosed.Please be reminded that the visa application fee DOES NOT include the return postage. Visa Validity: A visitor visa holder will be allowed to travel to Taiwan before the expiry of the visa(3 months to 5 years) and stay there for a different duration of stay (7, 14, 30, or 60 days)depending on each visa.Those who are permitted to stay for 60 or 90 days and whose visa bears no such remark as "no extension will be granted" may apply at the nearest city/county police headquarters for a maximum of 180 days of extensions.The allowed period of stay for aliens, when entering into ROC with visitor visas or through the visa-exemption, starts from the next day of their entry into ROC. Aliens must leave the country before the expiration date of the above-mentioned period of stay or extensions.For those who visit Taiwan on a short-term visitor visa or on a visa-exempt entry, they are not allowed to apply for a new visa for a different purpose in Taiwan directly(from the BOCA or its subsidiaries)even if they can acquire a work permit for the competent government agencies before the original visa expires. In other words, they have to leave Taiwan and apply for a new visa from Taiwan’s embassies or overseas missions. |
