Team TPE wrapped up the 2026 Tug-of-War World Championships in Mossel Bay, South Africa with an outstanding 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the National Team Championships.
The biggest highlights were the Women 500kg and Women 540kg teams, both of which successfully secured an incredible fifth consecutive world title.
The Women 500kg final provided one of the most dramatic moments of the championships. Taiwan battled Germany for around four minutes in the opening pull and came within roughly 50 centimetres of defeat before holding on and turning the momentum around to secure the title.
On the final day, the Women 540kg team completed another remarkable five-peat, while the U23 Men 600kg team improved from fifth place at the previous World Championships to silver. The Men 560kg team also achieved Taiwan’s best-ever result in the category.
Colleagues from the Taipei Liaison Office in Cape Town also travelled to Mossel Bay to cheer on Team Taiwan and share these proud moments with the athletes.
4 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes — medals earned through strength, trust and teamwork.
Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches and staff!
