Director-General Chen was invited to attend Kou Hua Supermarket’s 30th anniversary celebration, which also marked the opening ceremony of the "Marine Flavor of Kaohsiung" event. She joined CEO Lisa Chou of Kou Hua, Chief Secretary Yao-Ting Hong of the Kaohsiung Marine Bureau, Councillor Isa Lee from Markham, and Guatemalan Consul General in Toronto, Myriam Liseth De la Roca Álvarez, to celebrate the occasion.
In her remarks, DG Chen congratulated Kou Hua on its 30th anniversary and expressed her pleasure at seeing CEO Chou partner with the Kaohsiung City Government to bring Kaohsiung’s rich marine specialties to Canada, following the Tainan Guava Festival earlier this year.
DG Chen welcomed Chief Secretary Hong and the delegation from the Kaohsiung Marine Bureau and Fishermen’s Association as they visited Toronto to promote trade and bilateral ties. Their upcoming visit to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to explore fisheries and trade opportunities between Taiwan and Canada further supports mutual economic interests. DG Chen hoped that such exchanges will showcase Taiwan’s market potential to Canada and encourage support for Taiwan’s bid to join the CPTPP.
DG Chen also extended special thanks to Guatemalan Consul General Myriam Liseth De la Roca Álvarez for her presence. Taiwan and Guatemala share a longstanding friendship, and we look forward to working closely with Consul General Álvarez to enhance trilateral economic ties among Taiwan, Guatemala, and Canada.
