MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Program (HES)

The Ministry of Education (MOE) in the Republic of China (Taiwan) provides the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) for foreign Mandarin/Chinese learners including beginners to study at any accredited Mandarin center in a university or college in Taiwan. For more information and useful tips about studying in Tawian, check out the Scholarship Office Website.

Applicants must be Swiss or Liechtenstein citizens, be above the age of 18, possess a high school diploma or above, excellent academic performance. Eligible applicants please send all documents printed on paper to our Office in Bern by March 31, 2025:

Candidates with one of the following qualifications may NOT apply:

1. Is an overseas Chinese student or a national of the R.O.C.
2. Is currently registered as a student at a Mandarin Language Center or has sought a degree from a university or college in Taiwan.
3. Has already received a HES or a Taiwan Scholarship, in the past.
4. Is an exchange student to Taiwan, during the scholarship period.
5. Is currently receiving financial benefits from the Taiwan government or another educational institution.

Please note:

1. Please read through the "MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship International Student Directions" for more details and requirements. (see Appendix)
2. Applicants should apply directly for admission within the deadlines specified by the university/college in Taiwan.
3. Please submit the following documents to apply for the HES Scholarship Program:
   1. An application form (see Appendix).
   2. A photocopy of his/her passport or any other documents that can verify the nationality of the applicant.
   3. A photocopy of the certificate of the highest credential and transcript of records (Leistungsausweis/Bulletin de notes).
   4. A photocopy of the applications to the Mandarin Language Center.
4. Application and Selection Process:
   1. The application period is from February 1^st through March 31^st, 2025.
   2. Selected candidates will be invited for interviews, as a compulsory part of application procedure.
5. Applicants who apply for more than 6 months scholarship should take the TOCFL test, or submit a copy of the test result or a certificate of a TOCFL test passed no longer than 2 years ago.More information about TOCFL test in Switzerland : https://www.roc-taiwan.org/ch_en/post/4916.html
6. Recipients of the summer classes should send a photocopy of the admission letter to the Delegation before April 30^th 2025 and recipients of other classes before June 30^th 2025 for confirmation. Recipients who do not send their documents before the deadline will be disqualified from the scholarship selection process.
