Renew a passport
Required documents:
- A completed passport application form. Please don't forget to sign your name both in field 11. "Applicant's signature" and field 12. "recipient's signature" on the second page of the form.
- Your most recent passport and its copy.
- Three identical passport photos (please click for more details). Guidelines for e-passport photographs
- A copy of your Swiss passport/Swiss permit
- Proof that the fee of 43 Fr. has been transferred to our bank account
- A completed entry permit application form and a copy of your Swiss passport/ Swiss permit, if you were born abroad and don't have a Personal ID. Number(身分證統一編號) on your Taiwanese passport’s data page and wish to stay in Taiwan for more than 3 months.
- A registered prepaid return envelope
Please send the above-mentioned documents by post to our Office in Bern.
Renew the endorsement of overseas Compatriot status
- A completed Application form for endorsement or amendment of a Republic of China (Taiwan) passport
- Your valid foreign passport and its copy. The foreign passport must be issued by the same country as the one recorded on the original endorsement.
- A registered prepaid return envelope

Amend your foreign name or foreign alias
If you would like to amend your foreign name or foreign alias, you need to renew your passport.
In addition to the required documents to renew a passport mentioned above, you should also provide the following documents:
- A completed Application Form for endorsement or amendment of a Republic of China (Taiwan) Passport
- Proof of foreign name/alias, such as:
- Identity certificates or official documents issued by the ROC government in a foreign language.
- Identity certificates or official documents issued by foreign governments in a foreign language.
- Birth certificates issued by domestic or foreign hospitals.
- Diplomas and certificates issued by public or private schools established with accreditation by competent education authorities.
- Married women adding their spouse’s surname to their foreign name or adopting their spouse’s surname shall follow what is stated in their household marriage registration or marriage certificate. If the aforementioned documents do not show their spouse’s surname, they may still apply to add the surname. Please also sign the Declaration加冠配偶姓具結書.
Those who change their foreign names shall list their original foreign name as alias, which may be deleted when applying for passport re-issuance or replacement till next time. If they already have an alias, the original foreign name may be endorsed as an additional alias. Except for that, other conditions shall not be permitted for adding a second foreign alias.
