In the weekend you have the chance to here more about Taiwan at the stand of Taiwan Tourism Bureau in Bella Center at the travel fair from Friday January 23-25, 2009. You will find us at the stand C1-17.
Why go to Taiwan?
There are more reasons to go to Taiwan. Danish tourists are steadily on the look-out for new travel destinations which still have not come in the spot light. Taiwan is one of the travel destinations in East Asia which the last couple of years experience an increasing interest among international tourists, and 2007 hit all records as 3.7 million tourists visited Taiwan, however; this number is still low.
And why do tourists tour Taiwan at all?
-Culturally Taiwan has the largest collection of Chinese art artefacts at the National Palace Museum which were brought to the island by Chiang Kai-shek’s people 1949 from the Forbidden City in China.
-the culture in Taiwan is primarily a mix of Japanese colonial culture and Chinese culture as Taiwanese celebrate many of the same Chinese traditions as in Singapore and China, for instance the Chinese lunar new year (January 26 this year). Furthermore there are 13 indigenous tribes on the island which can be seen in the mountain areas.
-The mixed culture at the islands makes the island an obvious travel destination if you want to visit Buddhist and Taoistic temples and Confucianistic buildings.
-The climate is tropic and sub-tropic with a vigorous nature as Taiwan is a volcano island. Tourists get a chance to hike in vigorous montain areas to a level of nearly 4000 m and to see monkeys and colorful butterflies. The average temperature is 23 degrees. In the offshore sea of south Taiwan you will find beautiful coral reefs.
