The Taipei Representative Office in Denmark held the 2024 Taiwan-Denmark Association Summer Party on August 22nd . Svend Erik Hovmand (Chairman of the Taiwan-Denmark Association) and his wife, who have long supported the Office, Pia Kjærsgaard (Member of the parliament), Michael Danielson, (Chairman of Taiwan Corner), and members of Taiwan-Denmark Association, there were more than 30 people attended.
Svend Erik Hovmand said that Taiwan successfully completed its presidential election this year, but China regarded this as a provocation and continued to exert pressure on Taiwan with multiple means such as disturbing Taiwan with military exercises and using civil and military intimidation. It affected tremendously on Taiwan in many aspects. It disobeys with Denmark's core value of democracy, freedom and human rights. The Taiwan-Denmark Association will continue to firmly support democracy and freedom in Taiwan. Pia Kjærsgaard said that, she has supported Taiwan since 1988, she is very glad about Taiwan's democratic development, and she is sentimental that Ambassador Lee is about to step down. Ambassador Lee truly is one of the few excellent diplomats who promote the substantial exchanges between Taiwan and Denmark. At last Ambassador Lee emphasized he has been served the country for 50 years till this August. He is sincerely grateful to all the members of the Taiwan-Denmark Association for their support to Taiwan. Denmark is his second homeland. He retired and will continue to serve for the Taiwan-Denmark Association in the future, to strengthen the strong ties and cooperation between Taiwan and Denmark. The summer party lasted for about 4 hours, meanwhile everyone was looking forward to the coming National Day reception.
