The Hsinchu Science Park Bureau under the National Science and Technology Council in Taiwan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Trakia Economic Zone (TEZ), one of the largest in Bulgaria, to deepen cooperation and open opportunities at a tele-conference on December 2, 2024.
The MoU was signed by Chen Tzong-Chyuan, Director-General of the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau, and Plamen Panchev, CEO of the TEZ, witnessed by Vladimir Temelkov, Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv, Nikolay Stamatov, Deputy Mayor of Maritsa, Pong Suang-Jing, Director of the Science and Technology Division in Germany, and Aaron C. W. Hsu, Chargé d'affaires of the Taipei Representative Office in Greece.
According to the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau, the TEZ has sent delegations to it several times since 2019, in great efforts to enhance partnerships and exchange views on high-tech developments and governmental management of the industries.
In September this year, D.G. Chen also led a delegation to visit the Plovdiv region where he had pleasant meetings with local government officials, industrial experts and academic researchers to share experiences and understand economic and start-up situations in Bulgaria. Based on today’s MOU, the two parties agree to promote mutual cooperation in talent cultivation, S&T research, industrial supply chain in key domains as well as other areas of opportunities such as semiconductors and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Located in the region of Plovdiv, the TEZ was established in 2013 within a public-private partnership framework. It consists of six industrial and tech parks with a total area of approximately 1,070 hectares. So far it has attracted more than 200 companies from around the world to settle in, hiring more than 30,000 employees and brining in investments of more than 3 billion Euros in total. The Zone not only cooperates with local and state governments but also maintains good relationships with business entities, educational institutions and related associations.
