In response to recent misinformation regarding the so-called "One China Principle" from specific institution, the Taipei Representative Office in Hungary solemnly states the following:
- The PRC’s Misinterpretation on Historical Facts
Since the PRC’s establishment in 1949, it has never governed Taiwan for a single day. Taiwan operates with an independent government, democratically elected president, judicial system, and military, maintaining economic and unofficial diplomatic ties worldwide. The PRC's claim that "Taiwan is an inseparable part of China" disregards historical facts and Taiwan’s status as an essential member of the international community.
- The PRC’s Distortion of UN Resolution 2758
The PRC constantly misinterprets UN Resolution 2758. In reality, the resolution only concerns China’s UN representation and does not address Taiwan’s sovereignty. It does not endorse PRC’s territorial claims. The international community has repeatedly refuted this unilateral misinterpretation. - Taiwan’s Global Influence Remains Strong
Taiwan is a vital economic and technological power. Recently, TSMC Chairman Mark Liu and U.S. President Donald Trump announced a $100 billion investment in U.S. semiconductor plants, reinforcing Taiwan’s indispensable role in the global high-tech industry. Taiwan continues to deepen economic and technological cooperation with like-minded nations, underscoring its irreplaceable role in global governance and development.
Despite the PRC’s attempts to marginalize Taiwan, the international community increasingly recognizes its democratic, economic, and technological leadership. No matter how much pressure the PRC exerts, Taiwan’s global influence cannot be erased.
