Taipei, Dec. 17 (CNA) Taiwan and Israel have signed four agreements to strengthen cooperation in such areas as trade facilitation, customs cooperation and environmental protection, a Taiwanese official said Tuesday.
The agreements were signed at the 10th Taiwan-Israel Economic and Technological Cooperation Conference in Taipei on Dec. 10 and took effect immediately, said Lee Rem-loong, deputy director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of West Asian and African Affairs.
One of the four pacts covers cooperation on standardization, compliance assessment and metrology and is aimed at eliminating technical barriers to trade and exchanging information on technical regulations and unsafe products, Lee said at a news briefing on Tuesday.
Another of the agreements strengthens bilateral cooperation on customs affairs and a third covers cooperation on water and air quality management and efforts to reduce the impact of climate change, Lee said.
The other agreement allows family members of diplomats posted in a representative office or consular post in each other's country to work where they are living, Lee said.
The Dec. 10 conference was co-hosted by Duh Tyzz-jiun, Taiwan's vice economics minister, and Amit Lang, director general of Israel's Ministry of the Economy, the ministry said.
It was attended by delegations of government officials from related agencies on each side, according to the ministry.
