The Da-Guan Dance Theater of the National Taiwan University of Arts (NTUA) – at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China – will perform in New Delhi on July 23 and in Chennai on July 26, 2017 as part of the ROC (Taiwan) government’s efforts to promote cultural exchanges under its New Southbound Policy.
Taiwan is currently implementing the New Southbound Policy, which is aimed at deepening bilateral relations in all sectors including arts, economy, science and technology between Taiwan and South and Southeast Asian countries, especially India.
The dance troupe’s performance, named Splendor of Taiwan, is expected to showcase to the Indian audience the diversity and sophistication of Taiwan’s rich culture and contemporary arts. The Da-Guan Dance Theater, consisting of 15 young performers under the NTUA will help boost Taiwan-India mutual understanding and promote people-to-people exchanges.
Established in 2005, the Da-Guan Dance Theater has been invited to various international events across the world, winning positive reviews for their successful choreographical integration of Western and Easter elements and innovative multimedia applications including drama, music and fine arts.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India (TECC) thanked the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) for its assistance and facilitating Da-Guan Dance Theater’s performance at Azad Bhawan Auditorium, ICCR, New Delhi on July 23, 2017 at 7pm. The troupe’s second performance in India will be at Rani Seethai Hall, Chennai on the night of July 26, 2017.
