India’s "Travel & Hospitality" magazine published a special report on Taiwan from an interview with Amb. Chung-kwang Tien, Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, in its June issue, 2019. Let’s take a quick look of what this report says:
Taiwan and India have immense trade and tourism potential. Taiwan will continue working closely with India’s new government to further cement the bilateral ties.
Taiwan and India’s bilateral trade volume reached US$7 billion in 2018, and that was a 5-year high and an 11% increase from 2017. Last year Taiwan and India signed a Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIA). Taiwanese investment in India grew to US$360 million in 2018, as compared to only US$30 million in 2017.
In 2018 Taiwan received about 35,000 tourists from India and registered a 17% growth in Indian arrivals, as compared to 2017. There are several projects going on to promote Taiwanese tourism in India.
Taiwan and India also cooperate in areas like education, culture, student exchange programs and others. A circus group from Taiwan will perform in Kamani Auditorium in Delhi on July 6, 2019.
