"Taiwan is eager to work with India to fight the COVID-19 pandemic," an interview report published by The Hindu on May 14 quoted Dr. Joseph Wu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), as saying the two countries have been cooperating from research on treatment to sharing Taiwan’s experience in controlling COVID-19 over the previous months and that Taiwan and India could consider setting up a regular communications channel in order to ensure the availability of medical resources.
Stressing that a joint effort is needed to keep the world safe amid the global COVID-19 spread, Minister Wu said if Taiwan could participate fully in the World Health Organization (WHO) and if it could interact with other countries on an equal basis under the WHO framework, more nations would receive Taiwan’s early warning and timely information about COVID-19. Although WHO has said little about Taiwan’s disease-prevention efforts, Taiwan is willing to share its experience with the WHO and other nations, Minister Wu said.
