On the morning of May 8, 2026, Mr. Stephen Hsu, Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai (TECC), visited the newly established think tank, the Deccan Centre for International Relations, which was founded in January 2026 in Chennai. He met with Ambassador T. S. Tirumurti, Head of the Center, Senior Advisor Balasubramanian Chandrashekar, and Research Officer Mehal Gautam.

He met with Ambassador T. S. Tirumurti, Head of the Center, Senior Advisor Balasubramanian Chandrashekar, and Research Officer Mehal Gautam.
Ambassador Tirumurti has extensive diplomatic experience, having previously served in the United States and Southeast Asian countries. This was Ambassador Tirumurti’s first meeting with DG Hsu, and the two had a highly cordial and productive exchange. They discussed a wide range of issues, including regional geopolitics, the current state and future prospects of Taiwan–India relations and cooperation, as well as global supply chains.
Ambassador Tirumurti also specifically emphasized that Taiwan holds a global leadership position in advanced high-tech sectors such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI), making it a highly valuable model for India to learn from. He expressed his hope that the Center and TECC could strengthen cooperation in the future and jointly organize seminars and exchange activities on related topics.
