At noon on June 11, 2026, Mr. Stephen Hsu, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai (TECC), paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Sachin S. Kurve, Chairperson of the Chennai Port Authority.
During the meeting, Chairperson Kurve shared his extensive professional and public service experience and provided an overview of the operations and development of Chennai Port. He noted that he had assumed his current position in May 2026 and warmly welcomed DG Hsu as the first foreign Consul General-level visitor he had received since taking office.
DG Hsu expressed his sincere appreciation for Chairperson Kurve’s warm hospitality despite his busy schedule. He stated that TECC is willing to actively promote exchanges between Chennai Port and ports in Taiwan and explore the establishment of sister-port relationships, thereby strengthening bilateral economic and trade ties between Taiwan and India.
DG Hsu also indicated that he would introduce Chairperson Kurve to the four major Taiwanese shipping companies operating in Chennai in order to further enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between the maritime sectors of Taiwan and Southern India.
