Ambassador Michael Lin was honoured to present his credentials and copy of credentials to SKN Governor General H.E. Sir Tapley Seaton and Foreign Minister Honourable Mark Brantley, respectively, on July 23rd.
Governor General Seaton shared with Amb. Lin many of his fond memories about Taiwan. In 1983, he visited the country in the capacity of Attorney General and witnessed the establishment of diplomatic ties between Taiwan and St. Kitts & Nevis, only days after the latter gained independence. In his latest trip to Taiwan in 2018, he was warmly welcomed by Her Excellency President Tsai, and when she paid a return visit to SKN in 2019, the two Heads of State planted a tree in the Government House, as a symbol of the ever closer friendship between Taiwan and the Federation.
The Governor General asked Amb. Lin to pass on a meaningful gift to President Tsai, which is a photo collection of the tree they planted together, symbolising the cordial ties between the two countries that continue to grow stronger every day.
Minister Brantley also congratulated Amb. Lin for assuming the new role of Ambassador, which promises new heights for the Taiwan-SKN relations. He reiterated that Taiwan is not only a good friend, but the BEST friend of the Federation. The two countries have already been working closely in advancing development in education, food security, ICT, public health and tourism, and are now preparing to launch new initiatives in green energy, recycling and women's empowerment. With continued joint efforts, the two partners will keep realising tangible progress and contributing to the benefit of the people in various aspects.
