In celebration of the 112th Taiwan National Day and the 40th Anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis, the Embassy of R.O.C. (Taiwan) hosted a reception on October 9. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to every guest who joined us on this joyous occasion. We especially would like to thank H. E. Walford Gumbs, Governor General's Deputy, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister and the cabinet members, and Hon. Premier Mark Brantley and the members of NIA, for showing their longstanding support for Taiwan.
In his remarks, Ambassador Lin brought everyone back to exactly 40 years ago, on the very same date, that our two nations forged diplomatic ties, and Taiwan was honoured to be the first nation to recognize the independence of St. Kitts and Nevis. We have travelled together over these 40 years, cherishing the deep and enduring friendship between St. Kitts and Nevis.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Drew praised that Taiwan has been a reliable partner, assisting in capacity building of St. Kitts and Nevis through different cooperation projects. Taiwan and the Federation share 40 years of enduring friendship, and will move forward together for the next 40 years.
The Nevisian Mandarin students, Jada John, Annessa Munroe, and Ajernee Hodge delivered mesmerizing performance in Mandarin and brought the guests to their feet in standing ovation. These talented young ladies are testament to how partnership between countries could facilitate cultural exchanges and benefit the people.
