On May 2, 2025, Taiwan's Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung met with Honourable Senator Isalean Phillip, Saint Kitts and Nevis Minister with responsibility for Social Development & Gender Affairs in Taipei. The two sides held in-depth discussions on social welfare systems and bilateral cooperation.
Minister Lin emphasized Taiwan's soft power and the importance of talent development. He noted ongoing cooperation projects between the two countries in areas such as poultry farming, digital ID, smart healthcare, and green energy. Taiwan will continue supporting talent cultivation in health, tourism, and technology fields through the Taiwan Scholarship and youth empowerment programs. He also thanked the St. Kitts and Nevis parliament for its continued support for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations.
Minister Phillip expressed admiration for Taiwan’s achievements in social welfare, vocational training, juvenile justice, and crime prevention. She pledged to apply the experience gained during her visit to improve policies back home and invited Minister Lin to visit St. Kitts and Nevis again.
Deputy Minister Chen Ming-chi hosted a banquet for the delegation, highlighting the 42-year partnership between the two nations in areas such as women’s empowerment, education, healthcare, agriculture, and climate resilience. He thanked Minister Phillip for participating in Taiwan Gender Equality Week in New York this March.
This was Minister Phillip’s third visit to Taiwan. Her delegation included Honourable Jahnel Nisbett, Nevis Island Administration Minister of Gender Affairs and other officials. Taiwan will continue strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding practical results.
