On May 21, during the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA), Mr. Curtis Martin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health of Saint Kitts and Nevis, delivered a statement in support of Taiwan, urging the World Health Organization (WHO) to include Taiwan in its meetings, mechanisms, and activities — including the WHA and the Pandemic Agreement.
Mr. Martin emphasized that UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and WHA Resolution 25.1 are unrelated to Taiwan and do not address Taiwan’s representation in the United Nations. He called on WHO to recognize Taiwan’s significant contributions to global public health and to uphold professionalism and neutrality by including Taiwan in the WHA and WHO meetings and mechanisms. Mr. Martin concluded his statement with the remark: “If Taiwan chips in, we all win.”
The Embassy extends its sincere appreciation to Saint Kitts and Nevis for voicing support for Taiwan during the WHA and supporting Taiwan’s participation in WHO meetings and mechanisms.
