The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, H.E. Edward Ling-Wen Tao, and his wife officially arrived on July 22, 2025. They were warmly welcomed at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport by Mr. Michael Penny, Senior Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis; members of the Embassy; the Taiwan Technical Mission (Taiwan ICDF) and the local Taiwanese community. The welcome included floral tributes, waving of national flags, and group photos to commemorate the joyful occasion. Warm wishes were extended to Ambassador Tao for a successful and fruitful tenure.
Ambassador Tao brings with him over 30 years of distinguished diplomatic experience, having served in various capacities across the Caribbean, Asia-Pacific, and North America. He previously worked at the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs at Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was posted to the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Saint Lucia. These roles have provided him with in-depth knowledge of the political, economic, and cultural landscape of the Caribbean region.
Ambassador Tao also served as Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brisbane, Australia, and held key diplomatic positions at Taiwan’s missions in Canada, Vancouver, Atlanta, and Indonesia. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated professional competence in promoting regional affairs and strengthening bilateral cooperation through pragmatic and flexible diplomacy.
In assuming his post in St. Kitts and Nevis, Ambassador Tao is committed to further enhancing Taiwan–St. Kitts and Nevis relations. He aims to deepen cooperation in various areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and sustainable development, while continuing to strengthen the longstanding partnership and pursue mutual benefit and shared prosperity.
