Following the first case of Taiwanese private invest in Saint Lucia just been officially introduced to the public two weeks ago, the government of the Republic Of China (Taiwan) organized an eight-member business delegation to visit Saint Lucia August 8-10, 2017 to further create business opportunities for the people of two countries.
The delegation led by H.E. Ambassador George Li from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs composed of six representatives from construction, manufacturing, textile and food processing sectors and one officer from Taiwan’s International Economic Cooperation Association, who will be surveying the local business environment for Taiwan industries.
The Ministry of Commerce of Saint Lucia held the Saint Lucia- Taiwan business conference at Bay Garden Hotel on August 9. Representatives from local business communities attended. During the opening ceremony, Hon. Bradley Felix, Minister for Commerce, Industry, Investment, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs welcomed the delegation and pointed out that Taiwan has always been a very good friend to Saint Lucia and contributed many beneficial projects across the island. Minister Felix encouraged the delegation to develop close ties with local business communities.
Taiwan ambassador to Saint Lucia, H.E. Douglas Shen noted that Taiwan is well known for its strong, dynamic and competitive small and medium-sized enterprises and is willing to share its experience and work closely with the business leaders of Saint Lucia. Ambassador Shen reiterated Taiwan’s commitment to Saint Lucia and vowed to support future joint venture investment between the two countries.
The six Taiwan companies at the meetings were Oversea Investment & Development Corp (construction and investment), Myfactory Industry (home appliances), Aplus Integrated Circutis Inc (consumer electronics and voice IC design), Hong Ta Industry (textile), AFTA Technology (motor tricycle and trading) and Long Life Tien Trading (food processing).
