Welcome to the official website of the Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia (TMIL), an office representing the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Latvia and Estonia. Aside from providing consular services, TMIL is responsible for promoting relations between Taiwan and Latvia and Estonia in trade and investment and on exchanges in the fields of culture, academics and science and technology.
Located in the Western Pacific off the southeastern coast of the Asian continent, Taiwan, with an area of 36,000 square kilometers and a population of 23 million, is an island blessed with climatic zones ranging from tropical to temperate and diverse geographical features with rich flora and fauna. As a predominantly Han Chinese society, Taiwan is a melting pot of diverse ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and religious traditions of peoples from indigenous Malayo-Polynesian, all over Mainland China, and immigrants from Southeast Asia. With its vibrant democracy, robust economy and matured civil society, Taiwan has shared top ranking in different international surveys and indexes. Based on the common values of democracy, freedom and human rights, Taiwan would like to further promote the existing mutually beneficial relations with the three Baltic States.
The current Head of Mission and Representative of TMIL is Mr. Andrew Lee. TMIL is located in the west part of Riga Old Town, and can be accessed by taking the Airport Express bus (Monika Hotel stop), tram No. 5, No.6 and No.7 from downtown Riga (Ausekla street stop) and bus No.1, No.2, No. 19 and No. 24 (Medical Museum stop).
