Representative Wu, Rong-chuan of the Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia made a visit to the City of Saldus in Southwestern Latvia on April 4th, 2017. He met with Mayor Ms. Indra Rassa and civil society representatives and visited enterprises and the city's cultural attractions to discuss trade and cultural exchange issues.
During the tour to Canelle Bakery Ltd., Representative Wu invited the Company to participate in the 2017 Taipei Food Show so as to introduce their fine products to consumers in Taiwan. He was also impressed by the briefing of the Saldus Judo Club, which not only promotes judos to students of local primary and secondary schools but also engages in exchanges in the Baltic region. Representative Wu promised to bring a Taiwanese judo delegation to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Latvian independence with the Club’s members in 2018.
Saldus is home to a population of 35,000 and more than 500 enterprises. Thanks to the proper utilization of EU development funds, Saldus develops rapidly in all aspects in recent years and equips with great future potentials.
