A total of nine reputable food enterprises from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania had jointly participated for the first time in the “2017 Taipei International Food Show”, held from June 21 to 24, 2017, to demonstrate distinctive Baltic food products such as organic dried fruits, chocolates, egg products, canned fish, berry wines, and cheese etc. Their active participation has created new opportunities for business cooperation between Taiwan and the Baltic States.
The first-ever Baltic Pavilion in the Show’s 27-year history attracted a long queue of visitors to taste Baltic delicacies provided by “Balticovo”、“Ligatnes vina daritava”、“Ramkalni”、 “Orkla(Laima) ”、“Piejura(Amberfish)”、“Latvijas balzams”、 and “Cannelle” from Latvia; “Chaga”from Estonia and “Zemaitijos pienas ” from Lithuania. Representatives of the above-mentioned companies, arranged by the organizer of the Show, also visited two major food importers and retailers Leezen and Ambrosia respectively to discuss and explore future business opportunities.
The agricultural processing industry of dairy and poultry products in all three Baltic States is highly developed. Advanced techniques together with strict quality control system ensure output of high-quality food products for export to the EU countries and US. In recent years, Baltic States have endeavored to promote their products to Asian markets. At the same time, Taiwanese food importers also seek to introduce high quality food products from various countries so as to satisfy their picky and choosy consumers.
