On July 26th, 2022, Ambassador Jeffrey S.C. Hsiao and Hon. Wilbur Heine, Minister of the Education, Sports, and Training of the RMI, signed an MOU on the cooperation of the Taiwan Digital Opportunity Center(TDOC) project, building a solid foundation for helping Marshallese talents in Information Communication Technology(ICT).
According to the MOU, as the establishment of the Taiwan Digital Opportunity Center in the Marshall Islands completes, Taiwan will donate 20 computers and the relevant devices. The Institute for Information Industry of Taiwan will provide online courses for the Marshallese trainees.
In his remarks, Ambassador Hsiao pointed out that digital opportunity is economic opportunity, and he is honored to represent the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to sign the MOU for this ICT training project that could enhance RMI's ICT Capacity Building. Ambassador Hsiao also looked forward to the official opening day and the fruitful success of the TDOC.
During the signing ceremony, Hon. Wilbur Heine took the opportunity to thank Taiwan’s yet-another contribution to the RMI and praised Taiwan’s advanced ICT development. He was also confident that the TDOC would create more opportunities for the Marshallese people to learn ICT skills.
