Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the R.O.C. (Taiwan), Tien Chung-Kwang, served as President Tsai Ing-wen's special envoy, led a delegation to visit the Republic of the Marshall Islands from April 29th to May 3rd, 2023, and brought back home fruitful results.
On the last day of their visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of the Marshall Islands arranged for the delegation to experience recreational activities such as fishing, snorkeling, and picnicking on an islet of Majuro Atoll. Special Envoy Tien and Kitlang Kabua, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Marshall Islands, both caught a big fish, concluding the trip perfectly.
During the visit to the Marshall Islands, Special Envoy Tien represented the R.O.C. (Taiwan) government in co-hosting a reception with the RMI Government to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Taiwan-Marshall Islands diplomatic ties on the Naval Vessel of the R.O.C. Navy, one of the military vessels visiting the Marshall Islands for the friendship.
The delegation also participated in the celebration of the 44th Constitution Day of the Marshall Islands, held a business forum on pre-fabricated houses and shipbuilding business, attended the donation ceremony of oxygen equipment and a solar energy storage system at the Majuro Hospital, and had friendly interaction with H.E. President David Kabua, Cabinet Ministers, Honorable Speaker Kenneth Kedi and chairpersons of standing committees of the Nitijela (parliament), furtherly strengthening the friendship between the two countries.
Special Envoy Tien also represented President Tsai Ing-wen in hosting a banquet and extending the government’s gratitude to Taiwanese compatriots residing in the Marshall Islands for their long-standing contributions to deepen the Taiwan-RMI relations and benefit the RMI social welfare.
