On the afternoon of June 10, 2023, ROC (Taiwan) Ambassador H.E. Steve C.C. Hsia was invited to witness the blessing and opening of the “Rongrong Enja Enos Memorial Multipurpose Gymnasium and Water Catchment Project” that was held at the Marshall Christian High School located on the offshore Rongrong Island of Majuro Atoll.
Given the significance of assisting remote RMI offshore islands to improve local living conditions, the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for many years has been keen on providing financial and technical assistance to fulfill this purpose. The Rongrong Project is just another story of successful basic infrastructure cooperation between the ROC (Taiwan) and the RMI.
Beside Ambassador Hsia, many RMI officials also attended the ceremony, including Minister of Culture and Internal Affairs Ota Kisino, Mayor Ladie Jack and Iroij Alber Alik. Mayor Jack, on behalf of RMI government and Majuro City government, also expressed his gratitude to ROC (Taiwan) government for the financial assistance to accomplish the project.
Ambassador Hsia then presented some basketballs to the school for the sports training of the school’s students, and it was accepted by the participating RMI officials and the high school principal Rev. Josen Kieco.
