The government of Malaysia has announced that, starting 1 June 2024, visitors holding a Taiwan passport will be able to use its e-gate system when entering and leaving the country. In reciprocity, the government of Republic of China (Taiwan) has announced that since 7 November 2024, Malaysian passport holders will also be able to use Taiwan’s e-gate system. Malaysia is the 7th nation, after the U.S., South Korea, Australia, Italy, Germany and Singapore to conclude reciprocal treatment of e-gate system with Taiwan.
Starting from 7 November 2024, Malaysian e-passport holders with no illegal records in Taiwan and with passport validity over 6 months, age over 12 years old and body height over 120 cm, after completing the “one-time registration” at the arrival lobby, will be able to enter Taiwan using e-gate system (need to re-register if renewing passport). Meanwhile Taiwanese e-passport holders with passport validity over 6 months and age over 12 years old, need to fill out the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online 3 days before arrival before using e-gate system in Malaysia.
Please share this wonderful news with your friends! From now on, it only takes Malaysian friends 1 minute to register and 10 seconds to clear the immigration in Taiwan. Compared with the 10 to 25 minutes needed for manual clearance, there is no better news than this.
