President 蔡英文 Tsai Ing-wen was invited to pen an essay in the most recent issue of Foreign Affairs magazine, titled “Taiwan and the Fight for Democracy: A Force for Good in the Changing International Order.” In the essay she pointed to Taiwan as a determined practitioner of democracy and stated our determination to be a force for good in the world in the face of contemporary challenges.
The essay stated how #Taiwan’s success in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic can be held up as a model for other democracies around the world, and undercuts the idea circulated by authoritarian nations, that their model of governance, compromising the values of democracy, freedom, rule of law and respect for human rights, is better adapted to the requirements of the 21st Century.
