2025 Taiwan Fellowship Program
The Taiwan Fellowship Program is established and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to award foreign experts and scholars who are interested in the research fields of social sciences and humanities related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, the Asia-Pacific and Sinology to conduct advanced studies at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
Besides the above research fields, 2025 Taiwan Fellowship Program encourages studies on topics relevant to Taiwan’s important policy agenda and major foreign engagements ─ i.e., Taiwan’s participation in regional trade and economic integration, “New Southbound Policy”, “Regional Security Studies”, “Countering Disinformation”, “Technology Diplomacy” and “Global Supply Chain Resilience”.
The terms of fellowship are 3 to 12 months and recipients will be provided financial assistance as follows:
- Monthly stipends are paid at the beginning of every month.
- Professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows: NT$60,000. (Based on the currency rate, it’s around USD 2,000).
- Assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates: NT$50,000. (around USD 1,666)
- One round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan (tickets will be subsidized according to the actual purchasing price, but with a maximum subsidy for USD 3,000)
- Accident insurance (plus a medical insurance for accidental injuries) coverage of NT$1 million.
The 2025 Fellowship is open for application from 1 May to 30 June, 2024 and only online application is accepted. The steps of application are as follows:
- Prepare the application:
- Application Form;
- Resume (including a publication list);
- Research proposal (Tree pages in principle, using a standard research format);and
- Two letters of recommendations, or one letter of recommendation and one letter of agreement from the highest administrative director, of applicant’s institution.

- Applicants should print their complete application form and send all application documents to Taipei Trade Office in Nigeria (Address: No. 23A Thompson Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria) by register-post.
