From the United States Declaration of Independence and the French Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen in the 18th century, to the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the 20th century, people have continued to strive for the ideal that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.” However, in the 21st century, there is still room for more efforts in promoting the ideals of human rights.
The National Human Rights Commission, Taiwan (NHRC, Taiwan) seeks to enhance human rights education and interaction. To encourage all sections of society to engage in human rights-related activities, the Commission is organizing the 2024 Human Rights Poster Design Competition. Contestants are expected to creatively incorporate their interest in contemporary human rights issues into their poster designs, to help foster awareness of human rights across all levels of Taiwanese society and spread the universal concept of human rights. This year’s Competition is expanded to include international submissions, to depict Taiwan as a country founded on human rights and showcase its role as an advocate for these rights. This year, the theme is “Equality and Non-discrimination.” Submissions must incorporate human rights issues into the poster’s design and adhere to the principles of equality and non-discrimination. The Competition is expected to raise public awareness of human rights through the creative designs incorporated with the spirit of equality. The deadline for entries is September 6, 2024.
