In a bid to enhance trade on organic agricultural products and organic agricultural cooperation between Taiwan and New Zealand, the Council of Agriculture under the Executive Yuan has negotiated with the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries and conducted on-site visits in New Zealand. As a result, agreement on mutual recognition of the regulatory systems governing organic products has been reached. The New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office (NZCIO) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New Zealand (TECO) completed signing on 26 February 2020.
The pact has the potential to deliver certification cost savings for Taiwanese businesses exporting agricultural products to New Zealand and enhance the competitiveness of those products. This will create new business opportunities for Taiwanese organic agricultural products while strengthening agricultural cooperation between Taiwan and the New Southbound Policy Countries.
