On December 6, TECO in Auckland accompanied Deputy Magistrate Liu Pei-Dong of Chiayi County on a visit to the Papakura Māori Marae, where the tribe's executive officer, Tony Kake, welcomed the delegation with a traditional Māori ceremony. During this trip, Deputy Magistrate Liu led a delegation that included officials from Chiayi County Government and students from Shanmei Elementary School, visiting Rotorua and Taupo. The delegation met with Rotorua Mayor Tania Tapsell, toured the Te Arawa Whānau Ora Health Support Services Center and Rotorua Primary School. In Taupo, they were accompanied by local councilor Anna Park and visited the Taupo Museum and Art Gallery. They also met with the staff at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori Whakarewa I te Reo Ki Tuwharetoa, a Māori school in Taupo, for cultural and educational exchanges, seeking to expand collaboration in indigenous affairs, health, and international education between Chiayi County and local governments in New Zealand.
