The Climate Smart & Inclusive Cocoa Project aims to improve the resilience of rural households within an inclusive cocoa value chain by partnering with the communities and in particular cocoa farmers, savings groups and cocoa cooperatives to increase climate-smart production, improve access to inclusive market systems and, improve financial resilience of rural households. Through the donation, 840 Solar Light Kits will be given to cocoa farmer households with children and vulnerable family members as part of ongoing climate risk mitigation work and to provide children an enabling environment for education, learning and growth.
Ambassador Ben Wang appreciated that PNG has many challenges highlighting the limited accessibility to electrification in rural areas as being one of them.
Ambassador Wang during the presentation said TECO PNG hoped that the Solar Light Kits donated with Love from Taiwan would be able to provide a clean energy and lighting source which could benefit a family and a community by providing safety and better livelihood opportunities.
WVPNG National Director Mr. Chris Jensen when receiving the donation said “World Vision PNG continues to advocate for, and is committed to contributing to sustainable efforts through integrated programming in climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods ensuring that children and vulnerable communities are at the heart of World Vision programs.” PAPUA NEW GUINEA
