It is delighted to invite Somaliland delegation joined the other fifty delegations worldwide to attend the inauguration celebration of ROC (Taiwan) 16th-term President Lai Ching-te to witness another hard-earned victory for democracy. Taiwan will continue using Taiwan’s democratic vitality as a force for good, to promote national development and deepen international cooperation.
With the belief that Democratization is the best solution for Somaliland’s claim for recognition, stability and peace, Taiwan will stand side by side to support Somaliland’s democratization together with the like-minded partners. Somaliland’s right to be treated as a democratic, stable, and free nation in the Horn of Africa region is a fair choice.
As President Lai Ching-te mentioned in his inaugural address that “The Republic of China (Taiwan) and the People’s Republic of China are not subordinate to each other”. Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi also mentioned in his 33rd National Day statement that Somalia will never be an option for Somaliland. The so called One-China Principle and One-Somalia Principle are distorted clichés. They are contrary to the facts that Taiwan and Somaliland are not subordinate to China and Somalia respectively.
Upon receiving the delegation, President Lai referred to “Project Africa” and Taiwan’s persisting good will to continue working with Somaliland and Africa. We could all thrive together.
