On behalf of Government of ROC (Taiwan), I am delighted to respond to Somaliland Government’s appeal in April this year to address rehabilitation and humanitarian issues by supporting Two million and Five Hundred Thousand US dollars to Somaliland Government. This support would not only address the immediate risks but also represent a strategic investment in preserving democratic values and regional stability in the Horn of Africa. Taiwan is always proud to be the lever and catalyst for Somaliland. I believe that Taiwan’s support will bring more support from the international community for Somaliland.
Besides this rehabilitation and humanitarian support, Taiwan and Somaliland have commenced cooperation and partnership in the fields of Democratization, Healthcare, Agriculture, ICT, Higher Education, Petroleum, Security, Business, Taiwan Avenue and Taiwan Medical Center, etc. The said cooperation reflects “Taiwan Model” to benefit Somaliland people directly.
