Taiwan Representative Office in the Republic of Somaliland held an awarding ceremony of four types of Taiwan Scholarship including TaiwanMOFA Scholarship, TaiwanMOE Scholarship, TaiwanHuayu Enrichment Scholarship and TaiwanICDF Scholarship on 24th August 2023. H. E. Ambassador Allen Lou of Taiwan Representative Office in the Republic of Somaliland hosted this awarding ceremony. National Commission for Higher Education Deputy Chairman and Commissioners, MPs, Ambassador Mohamed Hagi Mohamoud, Members of the Diplomatic Crops, Principals of the Universities and parents attended this event and witnessed the milestone of education cooperation between Taiwan and Somaliland.
Ambassador Allen Lou made a remark that education is one of the cooperation fields launched in 2020 after the establishment of the relationship between Taiwan and Somaliland. He also quoted “Building Dream through Education” to encourage the 2023 25 Taiwan Scholarship awardees dare to color their dreams in Taiwan.
It is also delighted to see today there are 7 female Taiwan Scholarship awardees this year. As the African proverb says” If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a family (even a nation). It is anticipated that there will be more and more female Taiwan Scholarship awardees in the future.
We also encourage the Taiwan Scholarship awardees will become “corner stones” to contribute to Somaliland’s national development once they finish their studies in Taiwan.
